About Mulligans Funeral & Monumental Services Ltd

Established in 1996 by the late Brian Mulligan, Mulligans Funeral & Monumental Services Ltd has become a trusted name in funeral care across Manchester, Stockport, and the Northwest. After years with a corporate provider, Brian saw a need for more compassionate, personalised services, leading him to open our first family-run funeral home in Clayton, Manchester. From those small beginnings, we’ve grown into a family business known for dignity, respect, and unwavering professionalism.

Our journey mirrors that of our acorn symbol—small, yet with the potential for great strength and growth. What started as a local funeral home has expanded, now offering a wide range of services that reflect the changing needs of the families we serve. We continue to honour lives in unique, meaningful ways through our traditional funerals and direct cremation services. The acorn symbol represents this growth and the enduring legacies we help families create for their loved ones.

Today, Mulligans is led by Karen, Brian’s daughter, who continues her father’s vision of compassionate, bespoke services. Together with a team of highly experienced funeral directors, each with decades of expertise, Karen has expanded our offerings to include not only traditional funerals but also direct cremation, a growing choice for families seeking affordability without compromising on dignity and personalisation.

At Mulligans, we believe every farewell should reflect the unique life being honoured. Even with our direct cremation services, we offer personal touches such as selecting a special piece of music, choosing clothing for your loved one, or arranging a webcast of the committal. While the committal itself remains unattended, the webcast allows family and friends to share in the moment, ensuring no one is left out.

For families seeking a more personal farewell, we offer private chapel visits, allowing you to spend time with your loved one in an intimate setting before the cremation. We also provide meaningful keepsakes, such as memorial jewellery, ashes caskets, and other personalised mementos, ensuring you can create lasting tributes that honour your loved one’s memory.

As a family-owned and operated business, we have always placed the needs of families at the heart of everything we do. Whether you choose a simple direct cremation or a more involved farewell, we work closely with you to ensure the services reflect your wishes and values. Our experienced funeral directors provide flexible, respectful, and personal options to suit every family’s needs.

Mulligans bridges the gap between affordability and personalisation, allowing you to say goodbye in a way that feels right. Whether it's a simple direct cremation or a more customised approach, we are here to support you through every step of the process. We are committed to making every farewell a meaningful tribute.

From our beginnings in Clayton to our expansion across Manchester and Stockport, our commitment to the community and the families we serve remains steadfast. Our growth, symbolised by the acorn, reflects our understanding of modern funeral choices, without ever losing sight of the care, dignity, and personalisation that has been the cornerstone of our service for over 25 years.

Meet Oakley – The Heart of Mulligans Funeral Service

At Mulligans Funeral & Monumental Services Ltd, we understand that funerals are more than just a service—they are a tribute to a unique life. To represent this, we are proud to introduce Oakley, our friendly and compassionate acorn mascot. Oakley embodies the values at the heart of what we do: care, dignity, and respect for every family we serve.

What Oakley Represents

Oakley isn’t just an acorn—he’s a symbol of growth, remembrance, and support during life’s most difficult moments. The acorn represents life’s journey, with its ability to grow from a small seed into something strong and enduring, much like the impact of a loved one’s legacy.

Oakley’s warm and professional presence reflects the way Mulligans approaches every service, helping families honour their loved ones with care and personalisation, whether through direct cremation or traditional funerals. His role is to guide and reassure families, showing them that even in simplicity, dignity and respect are at the forefront.

Whether you’re planning ahead or in need of immediate support, Oakley and the team at Mulligans are here to make sure your loved one’s farewell is handled with the utmost respect and compassion.
